Hackathon: UDesigner & Vega (Updated Timeline: Sign-up by Sept 18, Submit Apps by Sept 26)

Background Info:

Participate in Unqork’s latest Community Hackathon and get hands-on with UDesigner and Vega enhancements from the 7.10 release. 

Work as a team, using UDesigner’s new collaboration features, to build a bespoke application with Unqork and compete with other developers for recognition and prizes. The finalists will be invited to demo their work during a live Use Case Showcase event where the audience votes to determine the winner.

Prizes include Gift Cards, coveted Community badges, and a year’s worth of bragging rights! Additionally, all participants in this Hackathon will receive 200 points and the Hackathon Participant badge on their community profile. 

The Challenge

Requirements

• Must be a working application that can be demoed via Express view.
• Work as a team (no individual entries), leveraging UDesigner’s collaboration features on at least 3 modules:
  • At least 3 modules must have at least 3 drafts
  • Each Creator must work on each module
  • Each Creator must “author” one module
  • Example:
    • Module 1
      • Creator A creates
      • Creator B updates
      • Creator C updates/finishes*
    • Module 2
      • Creator B creates
      • Creator C updates
      • Creator A updates/finishes*
    • Module 3
      • Creator C creates
      • Creator A updates
      • Creator B updates/finishes*

*Teams are not limited to 3 drafts, collaboration across the team can and should continue as needed to improve your module configuration. 

Evaluation Criteria

• The more sophisticated the application, the better.
• We will be looking for original and creative application use cases.
• Showcases the power of Unqork by including integrations, workflow operations, and a clean application styling. 
• Creativity and polish of the accompanying demo video.
• Bonus points for use of new Unqork features:
  • GenAI Connector
  • Vega Tables
  • Published Application Versioning
    • Creator A creates app version 1.0.0
    • Creator B makes updates and publishes version 1.0.1
    • Creator C updates and publishes version 1.0.2

The Process

1. Sign-up using the button above: 
   • Only one person needs to sign up from each team (you’ll be required to provide your teammates’ names and emails). 
   • Each teammate will receive a confirmation email of their registration.
2. Build as a team: See the requirements above on use of collaboration features.  
   • This is an asynchronous hackathon for our Creators all around the world!
   • No time minimum or maximum.
   • 3 Creators per team, no more, no less.
3. Submit your app: Use the submission form (emailed to you in step 1) to submit the following:
   • Short video explanation and demo of the application (~10 minutes)
   • Short description of the application
   • Feedback on your use of UDesigner and Vega
   • Details on unique elements of your configuration

The Timeline*

• Sept 18: Sign-up your team (New, extended deadline)
• Sept 26: Entries due (New, extended deadline)
• Oct 1: Judging Complete, Finalists Determined
• October: Showcase Event with Finalists

The Prizes

Our judges will determine finalists to invite to our live showcase event. On the showcase, finalists will demo and explain their application. The winners will be determined live via an audience vote.
